A ramping SP makes this easy – when in manual (or output tracking), the ramping SP should track the PV so that when the loop is returned to auto, it will ramp from where it is to the target SP. For cascaded loops – or any loop with additional logic downstream, rather than the OP simply driving an AO – output tracking is essential. With setpoint tracking in the controller, for the entire time the controller is in manual mode, the SP value of the controller will be held equal to the PV value (whatever that value happens to be).
